Waiting for the bus.
Waiting for your tea.
Waiting for school to start.
Waiting for your favourite programme to come on TV.
Waiting for the kettle to boil.
Waiting for other people.
Waiting in a queue.
Waiting for the phone to ring.
Yup, there’s an awful lot of waiting going on.
Being a resourceful practicer you can turn all this waiting to your advantage. No matter where you are, next time you find yourself waiting for something use the opportunity to do some practice. Even if it is only for a couple of minutes. It’s a couple of minutes you don’t have to do another time. You don’t even need your instrument as you could use some techniques that don’t require it.
To be effective you’ll need to do some preparation first. Make sure you are very clear on what you are trying to achieve in your practice. Each time you find yourself waiting work a little bit towards your goals. You’ll be amazed by how quickly the time adds up.
