For this method you need to play your piece through from start to finish.
As you play make sure that you are only thinking about the next note. If you catch yourself thinking about anything other than the next note go back to the beginning and start again. Ignore any mistakes – remember you are thinking about the next note.
If you find yourself thinking about “what’s for tea”, “who is in the front row”, “that note I played wrong” or “this is going well” this means you are not concentrating on the next note – time to go back to the beginning.
When you come to your performance you need to think in this way – many mistakes are caused by thinking about something other than the next note.
